Today, I would just like to pop in and drop a visual reference of what a pound of fat looks like.

I'll never look at a coffee mug the same again.
Isn’t that bananas??? Since June 3 I have dropped 17 of these bad boys. I say dropped and not lost because I feel “lost” implies that I miss something. There are no tears for those gobs of yuck, just bliss and hopes that they don’t decide to ever visit me again! If you need any inspiration to head to the gym or out for a run, go to your fridge or the nearest grocery store and look at a pound of butter (the boxes with 4 sticks). Pick it up and heft it in your hand a couple times. If you want to lose 5 pounds, pick up 5 packs. That little extra pudge doesn’t seem so innocent when you’re juggling it in the frozen food aisle at your local Piggly Wiggly!
For comparison, I’ll also add a picture of a nice shiny pound of muscle.

Oh! I'll take that sleek red one please!
So there you have it, kiddies. You have to burn roughly 3,500 calories to lose one pound of fat. To lose one pound per week, you could focus on creating a deficit of 500 calories in your current daily diet to start. It really makes you think a bit before nomming that deep fried twinkie at the fair!
